Message to the People of God from the meeting of Italian groups in Frascati, near Rome. Representatives of We Are Church International were honoured to be invited as guests.
Dear sisters and brothers,
We write to you with a heart full of hope and gratitude. Almost two hundred of us met in Frascati on 24 and 25 October, members of the various groups that make up the Synodal Network and of many other ecclesial bodies, for our second national assembly after the first stage in Assisi in February 2025.

We asked ourselves about a call that we feel is urgent: what does it mean today to dream, practice and make grow not another Church, but another Church? That is, a Church that is welcoming, open, sororal, communal, that listens to the needs of everyone, rooted in baptismal co-responsibility and capable of truly putting people made socially last at the center.

We did not start from abstract theories, but from listening to paths in which this evangelical newness already breathes:
· in the Eucharistic hospitality towards Christians of other confessions lived in Turin with the group Breaking the bread;
· in the free and assembly way of celebrating the Eucharist matured in the Basic Christian Communities;
· in the care and guidance of parishes entrusted to lay people, witnessed by the Austrian Marlies Prinz;
· in the direct and nonviolent actions for peace carried out by the "Christians who are not based either in Coltano or elsewhere";
· in the full citizenship recognized to the identity and affectivity of LGBT+ believers in pastoral paths;
· in the radical welcome of migrants embodied every day by the parish of Vicofaro.
In the ten workshops in which we then divided, we made these testimonies resonate with our lives, asking ourselves what the other Church means to us, what steps we have already taken and how to graft these seeds of renewal into our territories, in faith and in daily life, offering them as a living contribution and prophecy within the Synodal Path of the Churches that are in Italy.
To all the people of God who walk in Italy we want to cry out with joy: another Church is possible, indeed we are already building it together! It is not a distant utopia, but a living reality in the practice of many of our parishes, base communities and groups that every day try to combine the Gospel with justice, freedom and acceptance. Let us walk together with trust: the Spirit is already making all things new.
