Mit dem Schreiben„ Dilexi te“ hat Leo das programmatische Erbe der „Option für die Armen“ von Franziskus übernommen.
Leos Bemühen um Frieden und Zusammenwirken in der Weltpolitik finden große Anerkennung.
Gerechtigkeit ist ihm wichtiger als die Fixierung auf Sexualmoral und auf spalterische Kulturkämpfe.
Bei der Frauenweihe sieht er kulturelle, nicht theologische Hindernisse, das lässt hoffen. Bildung und Ausbildung sind ihm ein großes Anliegen, das ermöglicht Veränderung.
Irritierend ist es jedoch, wenn er sagt, die hierarchische Ordnung der Kirche sei nicht menschengemacht. Dem müssen wir von Wir sind Kirche mit aller Deutlichkeit widersprechen.
Entscheidend für die Zukunft der Kirche wird sein, wie der weltweite Synodenprozess vorankommt, da stehen alle Diözesen und Bischöfe in der Verantwortung.
Es braucht grundlegende Reformen auf allen Ebenen, auch im Kirchenrecht.

Brother Leo: Reforms are essential
As a wise, worldly, and experienced team player, Pope Leo continues and implements what his charismatic predecessor rightly stirred up and unleashed.
With his apostolic exhortation "Dilexi te," Leo adopted Francis's programmatic legacy of the "preferential option for the poor."
Leo's efforts toward peace and cooperation in world politics are widely recognized.
Justice is more important to him than a fixation on sexual morality and divisive culture wars.
He sees cultural, not theological, obstacles to the ordination of women, which gives cause for hope.
Education and training are of great importance to him, as they enable change.
However, it is disconcerting when he says that the hierarchical order of the Church is not man-made. We at We Are Church must emphatically disagree with this.
The future of the Church will depend on how the worldwide synodal process progresses, and all dioceses and bishops bear responsibility for this.
Fundamental reforms are needed at all levels, including in canon law.
