European Women's Synod Anniversary

In 1996, over 1000 women gathered in Gmunden, Austria for the first European Women's Synod – feminist, ecumenical, spiritual, political, and self-determined.

30 years later, 1996 co-organisers Gabi Kienesberger, Michaela Moser, and Maria Katharina Moser have courageously made it possible for women to gather again and build on that first meetingby remembering, telling stories – and thinking together about what remains, what has changed, and what needs to be done today.

Women weave resistance

All women who identify as such were invited to an anniversary gathering in Gmunden from 23 to 28 July 2026 – all women who were there back then, all who could not be there at the time, and all who are interested in feminist theology and practice.

Martha Heizer is taking pictures and we are preparing a page to cover it.
