A Prayer for Recovering Catholics

I would like to pass on this prayer for Recovering-Catholics written by one of our list members, Michael Graham

Loving and compassionate Lord, show us your mercy and grace.

Help us to forgive those people in positions of authority in the institutional church who either knowingly or out of ignorance, burdened us with guilt and shame.

Teach them O God as only you are able, to preach the good news of salvation without inciting fear, but let all of their words be infused by the love of your Holy Spirit.

Saving God, we know that there is nothing that we can do of our own accord to merit your grace.

We know that in trusting you, you have given us full and complete forgiveness from all our iniquities and that no stain of past unrighteousness hinders your love from us.

Help us to be a faithful disciples all the days of our lives.

Patient God, Strengthen our conscience, and resolve to live life worthy of your calling. Help us to remember that those times when we again fall short of your ideal, we have direct access to you and we are but a prayer away from full and complete reconciliation.

Help us O Lord, to be a light to the world of your Love. That those who have experienced pain and suffering under the guise of "your will," will experience the joy that only comes from your perfect love.

It is only through the gracious gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, that we are able to boldly make these petitions, we pray to you O Lord.
