We are a network of Christians in the Roman Catholic tradition committed to:
- prayer and self-discipline;
- building community;
- formation and education in faith;
- social justice.
Hearts, minds and energy cannot be devoted to these
unless there is an environment
- where concerns, doubts and needs can be expressed;
- of willingness to listen and discuss people's concerns and needs
- of goodwill and courage to read the signs of the times and interpret them in
the light of the Gospel
- where there is a fundamental desire to take the message of Jesus Christ into the twenty-first century.
Through offering support We Are Church in the UK does its best to encourage Catholics
- to identify with a parish,
- be loyal to their Bishop
- take part in
discussion and action to build a vibrant, empathetic and compassionate community of faith.
We hear Jesus say,
"Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened and I
will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and
my burden light." (Matt 11:28-30)
