Rome, 12
October 2003
Dear Cardinal,
Five years ago, when our Brother Pope John Paul II celebrated
the twentieth anniversary of his election to the ministry of Peter, we sent the
attached letter to all the Cardinals. We
also included our statement, A Pope for
the Time to Come, which was endorsed in 1998 by about 150 groups of
dedicated and committed Catholics all over the world.
We believe that our reflections are as relevant and
valuable as they were five years ago, and, therefore, we want to share them with
you once again on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the election of Pope John
Paul II. We hope they will be helpful
in the coming days when you have a dialogue with your brother Cardinals and
with the Bishop of Rome on the great challenges facing the world and the Church
today.
We pray for a blessing on our worldwide community of
faith in the coming days and months, and we pray to God that his/her blessings
may be with you.
