In their appeal to the Synod of Bishops We Are Church spoke of their commitment to the centrality of the Eucharist in their lives. They also greeted the news that a Synod on the Eucharist was to be convened.

However they were disappointed at the doctrinal rigidity and lack of pastoral discretion that was being promulgated. It appeared that the Bishops were leading the Church back to the Council of Trent rather than onwards from Vatican II. We Are Church thought that a great opportunity had been lost.
